The program Illuminate tem a missão de combater e erradicar a pobreza e a desigualdade, em todas as suas formas e dimensões, ao garantir o acesso seguro à geração e armazenamento de energia elétrica, para populações isoladas e desassistidas de políticas públicas, nas áreas essenciais ao progresso e bem-estar social.

Tem por objetivo o desenvolvimento humano e social, a partir da eletrificação descentralizada de residências, conforme a implantação de sistemas fotovoltaicos Off Grid, destinados ao fornecimento de energia para iluminação, refrigeração de alimentos e seu cozimento ecológico.

The program Illuminate transformará a realidade de milhares de vidas afligidas com a falta de energia elétrica, ao amparar famílias e comunidades em situ­ação de risco e de pobreza extrema. Assegurará o acesso às tecnologias de geração e armazenamento de energia elétrica, bem como o acesso a equipamentos para uso doméstico (refrigerador e fogão elétrico).

Visando tornar perene o acesso à energia limpa e renovável, o Programa Illuminate disponibilizará suporte técnico e manutenção preventiva e corretiva, pelo período de vida útil do sistema, de forma a garantir a sustentabilidade do programa no longo prazo.

Extension and

Program Locations

No Brasil, o programa será implantado, inicialmente, para 30.000 famílias, em regiões com baixo índice de desenvolvimento humano – IDH, com destaque para os estados do Acre, Alagoas, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Rondônia, Roraima, Sergipe e Tocantins.

Para o restante da América do Sul, América Central e o Caribe, de igual forma, o programa amparará inicialmente 30.000 famílias nos países mais pobres e/ou de maior desigualdade social dos referidos continentes, como Argentina, Belize, Bolívia, Colômbia, El Salvador, Equador, Haiti, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicarágua, Paraguai, Peru, República Dominicana e Venezuela.

Na África e Ásia, o Programa Illuminate amparará inicialmente 60.000 famílias, preferencialmente em países que não existem conflitos armados: Angola, Benin, Botsuana, Burundi, Camarões, Congo, Costa do Marfim, Eritreia, Etiópia, Gabão, Gana, Guiné Equatorial, Índia, Libéria, Madagascar, Malawi, Moçambique, Namíbia, Nigéria, Quênia, República Centro-Africana, República Democrática do Congo, Ruanda, São Tomé e Príncipe, Sudão do Sul, Tanzânia, Togo, Uganda, Zâmbia e Zimbábue.

Social

A integração dos Programas AcquaGreen e Illumine propiciará o acesso à banheiros seguros e adequados, à água potável, por meio de bombeamento solar e armazenamento em reservatório, e à energia elétrica, a partir de fontes limpas e renováveis.

Consoante Resolução da ONU intitulada “Transformar o nosso mundo:  Agenda 2030 de Desenvolvimento Sustentável”, em vigor desde 01 de janeiro de 2016, tem entre seus objetivos o direito distinto à água potável, ao saneamento e às energias renováveis.

SDG 7 – Clean and Affordable Energy

7.2 – By 2030, substantially increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy matrix.

SDG 3 – Health and Well-Being

3.3 By 2030, end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases, and combat hepatitis, waterborne diseases, and other communicable diseases.

3.9 By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from dangerous chemicals, contamination and pollution of air and water.

SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture

2.1 By 2030, end hunger and ensure access for all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including children, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food throughout the year.

2.3 By 2030, double the agricultural productivity and income of small food producers, particularly women, indigenous peoples, family farmers, pastoralists and fishermen, including through secure and equal access to land, other productive resources and inputs, knowledge, financial services, markets and opportunities for value addition and non-agricultural employment.

2.4 By 2030, ensure sustainable food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production, that help maintain ecosystems, that strengthen the capacity to adapt to climate change, extreme weather conditions, droughts, floods and other disasters, and that progressively improve the quality of land and soil. 

SDG 1 – Eradication of Poverty

1.5 By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations, and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.

SDG 10 – Reducing Inequalities

10.2 By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of everyone, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, economic or other condition.

10.3 Ensure equal opportunities and reduce inequalities in outcomes, including through the elimination of discriminatory laws, policies and practices and the promotion of appropriate legislation, policies and actions in this regard.

SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production

12.2 By 2030, achieve sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.

12.8 By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.

SDG 13 – Action Against Global Climate Change

13.3 Improve education, increase awareness and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.
